Circle of Life - Plans Progressing
Plans for the creation of Circle of Life National Commemorative Garden are progressing, and subject to a timely resolution of planning considerations and successful funding, it is hoped that the project will be commence in late 2012.
This national garden of commemoration and thanksgiving to organ and tissue donors, the first garden of its kind in Ireland, is being planned for Salthill in Galway. The promoters of the project, Strange Boat Donor Foundation, in partnership with Galway City Council, are hopeful that work on the garden will commence in late 2012.
Artist's Impression
The project will be funded almost entirely through voluntary donations; a large proportion of which will be procured through sponsorship of individual features of the garden. Additional funds will be raised through events such as; concerts; raffles; auctions; sponsored events; proceeds from sales of "Under Connemara Skies Towards Light", a book of poetry and photographs; philanthropic donations and possible grant aid.
The estimated capital, pre-establishment and promotional costs of the project, will be approx. €150,000. A separate fund will be put in place for ongoing maintenance.
