Launch of Strangeboat
Strange Boat, the song, and Strange Boat, the website were launched simultaneously (4th April, 08) and are integral to each other with both dedicated to the memory of Éamonn Goggin and all organ donors. The initial project was sponsored by Hibernian Aviva with the support and backing of the National Organ Procurement Service at Beaumont Hospital and the Irish Kidney Association. Informed consent
The Irish Kidney Association wish to clarify and explain its stance that informed consent should remain as the position for Irish organ donation with modifications and investment in donor coordinators.
Organ Transplant Statistics 2008
There are currently over 600 people in Ireland awaiting life saving transplant operations. The number of deceased donors in 2008 was 81, down by 7 on 2007.
