New Transplant Authority

A new national transplant authority is to be established by the HSE in an effort to boost Ireland's rate of organ transplants, as 2010 saw the biggest decline in organ donation on record.

The Medical Independent recently reported the appointment of Dr Jim Egan, Consultant Respiratory Physician with the National Heart and Lung Transplant Unit in the Mater Hospital as Clinical Lead of the new programme on organ donation and transplantation.
