Anniversary Event - Circle of Life
To mark the first anniversary of Circle of Life, a music event was held at the garden in Quincentennial Park on Sunday, May 24th.
It was another special event at the garden which featured Galway University Hospitals Choral Society and a String Ensemble from the Orchestra at Presentation College Headford. People travelled from many parts of the country to be there, to celebrate life, remember loved ones and highlight, once again, the importance of organ donation. Singer and one of the Trustees of Strange Boat Donor Foundation, Eleanor Shanley, who was also present sang Strange Boat, the song from which our Foundation got its name.
The importance of Circle of Life Garden to the organ donation community was recognised and acknowledged when last September the Annual Organ Donor Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving was held in Galway Cathedral to facilitate a visit to the garden by members of the organ donation community from right across the country. This day also marked the visit to the garden by President Michael D. Higgins and is wife, Sabina.
Since its opening this stone sculpted heritage garden is attracting ever increasing numbers of visitors from throughout Ireland and abroad, and has already become one of Galway's leading tourist attractions.
