President pays tribute to Organ Donation/Transplantation Community

At an event on St. Patrick's Day in Áras an Uachtaráin, President Michael D. Higgins and his wife, Sabina, welcomed, and paid tribute to, the organ donation/transplantation community.

This very special event, acknowledging the the organ donation/transplantation community in Ireland, was attended by people from across the country including members of the medical profession, odt representative groups, donor families and recipients.  

The President spoke of the importance of organ donation and said "organ donation is an act of incredible solidarity, and perhaps the greatest gift one human being can give to another".
